Reporting Relationship : Senior Vice President

Responsibilities :

•  Overall management of the sales function for China Telecom, including managing targets, pricing, sales process management, control measures, forecasting, etc.

•  Managing the company's sales budget (order intake, turnover, sales costs, sales margins, etc.) & achieving business, revenue & profit goals

•  Managing & developing all senior relationships with relevant authorities and contacts

•  Developing and implementing 1 to 5 year business plans, related budgets, short / medium / long-term business strategies, product requirements & market / competitor analysis

•  Acquiring new customers & launching new products

•  Arranging participation in all important exhibitions & overseeing all public relations activities (customer activities, press conferences, user clubs, etc.)

•  Initiating & following-up of purchase orders with local and international group factories

•  Increasing local market share

•  Identifying growth initiatives & developing new markets, sales, products, technical & financial data required to define and justify projects

•  Leading and motivating the team, as well as supervising know-how transfer to local managers & ensuring the overall development of staff

•  Communicate regularly with the European HQ

 

Qualifications :

•  The ideal candidate will be an ethnic Chinese in his/her mid 30' s to 40' s with a minimum of 6-7 years' of relevant experience, some of which will be with a multinational firm.

•  It is essential that the candidate has a track record of sales accomplishments within the telecom-munications industry in China , and is capable of understanding the technical concepts in enough depth to make effective client presentations.

•  The individual will also have experience working with company & have established relationships at a national & provincial level.

•  Ideally, the person will come from the foreign telecommunications sector.

•  Lacking directly compatible experience, the person will have the technical background as well as aptitude to come to grips with the salient features of wireless telecoms infrastructure.

•  The individual will need to lead and motivate the team, as well as possess strong selling, negotiating and closing skills.

•  Other than hands on selling capabilities, the individual must have the stature and presence to interface with the senior Chinese officials.

•  The successful candidate will be a high energy, results oriented person, with strong business acumen, time management & delegation skills.

•  In so far as the position will be vested with considerable authority and discretion, the person must have a high ethical standard, discretion and honesty which are beyond reproach.

•  A university degree with a major in electronic engineering, computer science or telecommunications is preferred, and an advanced degree in business management will be an advantage.

•  The candidate will need to have fluent English and Mandarin language capabilities, and be willing to travel extensively (locally & internationally).
