Country Manager <<back

Reporting Relationship : Reporting to the Managing Director ¨C Asia/Pacific based in Hong Kong .

Education : A university degree with an advanced degree in Business Administration from a reputable U.S or European institution is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

•  The position of Country Manager ¨C China will have full Profit and Loss responsibility for company's corporate business in China .

•  He/She will work closely with senior management in the headquarters and Hong Kong to ensure effective support services for this endeavor.

•  Once established, he/she will need additional support in the areas of Brand Management/Marketing & Sales, Finance and Human Resources.

•  The major thrust of this position will be to develop and implement an aggressive and profitable business growth and profit strategy for China to achieve exponential growth through brand extensions market expansion, and a new operating structure.


Qualifications :

 

•  The ideal person should be a Chinese General Manager with at least 8 to 10 years of sales/marketing experience and professional track-record in China .

•  Since the position will require creative techniques in strengthening and leveraging the company's market presence, the successful candidate should be an excellent strategist with strong entrepreneurial instincts.

•  He/She will be a broad-gauged, well-rounded team-builder who is capable of managing a business and Chinese partners through leveraging his/her team.

•  The successful candidate must have exceptional ˇ°people skillsˇ± with an affinity to dealing with people from different cultures and a proven ability to lead and motivate managers.

•  He/she will be able to negotiate with sophisticated key-players in the retail industry, will be innovative, sharp-witted, highly analytical and will possess potential for further personal and professional growth. He/she will be enthusiastic, energetic and results-oriented.

•  A westernized management style and appreciation for western culture and for luxury goods would definitely be an asset. Finally, in so far as the position will be vested with considerable authority and autonomy, the appointee must have the integrity and an ethical standard that is beyond reproach.

•  The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, seasoned mature and entrepreneurial professional who has a proven track record in the marketing and sales of consumer products, luxury good, retail and/ or cosmetics in china.

•  Solid business and general management experience.

•  Brand development, marketing skills and creativity.

•  Sensitivity to changes in the business environment and retail landscape, particularly in areas like pricing, competition, etc.

•  Ability to identify growth opportunities and take them to the proper stage of development and implementation.

•  Results and bottom line oriented. Skilled in resource allocation.

•  Leadership strengths with the ability to communicate the Vision for the organization and the ability to enroll support from relevant persons.

•  An integrator and not an administrator. Someone who does not panic when things get bad.

•  He/she should be able to create an environment that fosters a highly positive employee attitude, as well as setting high standards and aggressively developing people. He/she should have a progressive management style without being side tracked by the minutiae of management issues.

•  He/she should be comfortable with change, i.e. constant evaluation/re-evaluation of scenarios and ideas, and be sensitive to the cultural environment.

•  Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to be able to work in people driven business. A team player, forthright, candid.

•  Possesses cross-cultural sensitivity.

•  Superior negotiating skills and diplomatic style.

•  Experience in managing and working with branded products.

•  Experience in working with and managing a variety of business relationships in china, including that of JV partners.
