Reporting Relationship : General Manager
Responsibilities:
As part of his/her daily duties, the Head of HR will be responsible for developing, defining and managing the overall HR structure.
S/He will be tasked with implementing and fine-tuning an all-encompassing human resources management function that is aligned with the business strategies, and partnering to achieve set business objectives.
The role will revolve around day-to-day personnel management, as well as longer-term, more strategic aspects.
The Head of HR will be a critical link in the operational and strategic deployment of the HR strategies in China .
The main tasks of the Human Resources Director will be to develop and implement human resources, training, development, recruitment, and personnel policies and strategies.
To develop and communicate HR vision and strategy
To participate in the strategic decision making process and provide input in the area of people management
To create HR objectives to support business objectives. Create and track appropriate measures that reflect HR's contribution to the businesses, starting with the customer and including financial, operational and people issues
To motivate and manage a team of HR professionals and provide them with guidance in the various areas of HR.
To design HR policies and programs to meet business and HR objectives.
Specifically this would include:
C&B philosophy and strategy; market / best practice reviews and application; compensation structure and incentive design and implementation
Performance and potential assessment process, career path and capability index design and review
Workforce planning and internal communications
HR strategy development and implementation
To ensure consistency in implementation of policies and programs across division, and measure effectiveness of HR programs and policies by on-going review and obtaining customer feedback
To identify employee needs, to ensure that people programs are balanced in the way necessary to take the organization forward successfully
To manage and maintain relationships with division heads to ensure that people needs and issues in the businesses are being addressed
To identify and coach potential leaders within the company, and help equip the team with skills and abilities necessary to tale the organizations forward successfully
To keep the HR team members informed about Corporate and line initiatives, and the impact on the requirements of the HR function, and to prioritise activities to support the achievement of set goals
To manage all aspects of the reward and recognition necessary to reinforce and communicate important messages about performance and organizational directions / values.
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional with a minimum of 8-10+ years' experience with at least 3-4 years experience with a multinational operation in China .
The incumbent will also have 4-5 years' experience in a corporate HR management role with exposure to both running the HR function in a manufacturing and commercial operation.
The Head of HR must have a good awareness of the China market, and successful experience running an HR function for a large multinational firm in China .
S/He must have a proven track record in working with and understanding the points of view of the Chinese and foreign JV partners.
The incumbent will have a solid background in human resources management, and technical / specialized knowledge in the areas of recruitment process, learning and development, performance management systems and processes, rewards and compensations systems/processes, etc..
It is essential the candidate have worked in a computerized HR environment, and be computer / Internet literate.
S/He will have good interpersonal and communication skills, a high degree of maturity, good supervisory skills and a western mindset.
The Head of HR must be able to lead, initiative and identify issues, seek resolution and then solve problems.
There is a need for an assertive, strategic perspective, a solid understanding of business, and good leadership qualities.
The candidate will be a very open and down-to-earth person with the capability to adapt to the culture.
It is important the Head of HR be able to build relationships internally and externally, and be a professional and well-respected HR executive.
This person will be either a PRC National Chinese or Caucasian / Asia expatriate with the minimum of a university education.
It is essential the individual have good written and spoken English and Mandarin capabilities.
